What is EA and Battlefield going to do about cheating?

Can we have an honest discussion about cheating or at least a real solution?  It’s going to happen, it’s been happening since BF4.  It’s the plague in COD!  Even with the mass amounts of bans constantly it’s a stupid problem that is honestly ruining modern gaming!  I would like to discuss or open space for ideas to actually combat this!  Is there either a game mode or perhaps an overall system where we can verify players so that if they get caught cheating that verification process eliminates them from ever playing again?  Instagram, X, Facebook Book and TikTok have verification processes to verify people are who they say they are.  Can this or a similar system be brought to Battlefield to separate the real players from the fake ones?

manhimself1876 Please see our Battlefield 6 FAQ here:

What anticheat measures will Battlefield 6 have in place?

Javelin Anticheat is EA’s evolving approach to ensuring that our players enjoy a fair gaming experience across all of our published titles.

Javelin has been built from the ground up by a team of veteran engineers and analysts focused on studying cheating problems for each specific game under EA’s umbrella and designing unique features to solve those issues.

Javelin is already part of other Battlefield titles, including Battlefield Labs, and will be integrated in Battlefield 6 when the game launches.

    Thanks.

This is actually a good question and nobody is talking about it? Just to be clear, not all of these guys you brought in to showcase the multiplayer game reveal are cheaters but some are. You can tell who actually has talent and those who do not, just by how they played in this reveal. However here is the question and nobody thought it was important enough to talk about.

I do hope this is taken serious before it becomes a ridiculous problem like it is for COD. But I will say this, while looking at game requirements yesterday, there are some PC requirements that took me by surprise. It was a nice surprise as well, and here they are.

    1. TPM 2.0 enabled
    2. UEFI Secure Boot enabled
    3. HVCI capable
    4. VBS capable

"Installing rootkit software on your machine to make sure you're not cheating, and creating vulnerabilities as a result."

What is the difference between a hacker's rootkit software and a legitimate corporate rootkit?
Since today's subscription hacks also work at the kernel level.

Don't worry, they won't enable vote-kick or admin-kick systems—apparently, they have full confidence in their existing anti-cheat plugins. (Let's hope that confidence isn't misplaced.)

  • Please, dear god, fix this. Secure Boot is **** and locks out a lot of users just due to its pointlessness. I understand as a game dev myself, but it’s hot garbage compared to the others out there.

I understand cheating is a problem, but this is one of the worst ways to fix it. All antivirus software sucks because they have no real form of point-to-point communication. The fact of the matter is the anticheat you made is so easy to go around—just put it in a white box and make it think there’s nothing more.

The simple fix is to use what you already have. Why reinvent the wheel? PunkBuster and Easy Anti-Cheat both work wonderfully because they also allow mod control. Having moderators is the only best way. Putting TPM 2.0 restrictions not only affects people who can’t afford a new PC (especially when you’re asking players to pay up front 1000kr for a game they don’t even know), but it’s just unnecessary. There are far better ways, and I find it useless that you lock people behind TPM 2.0 (Secure Boot), because it also costs more in performance.

All in all, yes, I understand, but I find it a so-called “b**** move” where instead of making a real anticheat, you make a **** mask that’s really easy to move around in.

The massive problem I have with this is that Secure Boot is super simple to get around, and that’s not something more and more companies should be putting in. You guys even had it for 2042, then turned it off.

Due to this, it got moved into another post. I just wanted to make it clear:

I do not support more game devs pushing something that is so easy to subvert, and the only thing it does is harm the community, not the builds. But I do understand why this is viewed as a good thing. I just don’t agree with it, and I don’t think anyone else should either.

Don’t be a d-- to game devs, they’re under enough stress from greedy shareholders as it is!

    - you guys are doing grate love the art for the game just wanna help

But that’s the thing it’s not even a proper rootkit. It’s the worst kind: a “rootkit folder.” That means it’s not a fully functioning rootkit; it just places the program inside an admin-tracked folder so they can monitor what’s running and what’s not. Getting around it is as simple as modifying your Windows installation to treat the folder like any normal directory or even easier, just running the program in a virtual machine.

It’s easy to bypass, but in the end, all it does is lock the game away from people who can’t afford high end setups. Back in 2020, those with money had the upper hand. I don’t have that kind of cash to throw at a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM and then spend 800 SEK on an overpriced game.

I get what they’re trying to do, but it also kills performance. Secure Boot constantly monitors the system, eating up CPU and RAM in the process.

also is not just us its just everyone

What's crazy is no matter how insane the cheat detections are they still leave people with 5,000:1 K/D ratios in the leaderboards. 😂 I pray cheating is at a minimum and there's some sort of reporting system, but leaderboards tell all you need to know most of the time.

What the hell is Dice and EA doing? Forcing people to fiddle with their BIOS just so they can play the game? The explanation is so the anticheat can work properly. Well on the first day of the open Beta, cheaters had a field day and could cheat their **bleep** off. This is not acceptable. If they can cheat in the beta then you can bet they will be able to cheat on release day of the game.
