When CoD influencers hype a product, vets aren’t buying it

But I suppose that's par for the course in 2025. This isn’t just a disappointment, it’s a complete sodomization of what Battlefield ever stood for. BF6 is a CoD reskin that bears no resemblance to what BF veterans remember. It's chasing trends, catering to zoomers, and banking on CoD influencers to peddle hype while shouting “we’re back” ad nauseam. That hype already died over the past 12hrs.

The architects of this release have succeeded only in delivering a final, irrevocable blow to a once esteemed franchise. Innovation clearly was never their goal and instead, they have systematically erased any remaining potential. If there’s one thing they somehow managed not to utterly ruin, it’s the gunplay. So, if this is meant to be a “return to form,” congratulations, you’ve put the final nail in the coffin.

Helicopters - Consider them a textbook case of design malpractice. DoA and stripped of any semblance of competence or nuance. Somehow, they managed to top the disasterclass that was 2042.

Maps - Chaotic shoeboxes fueled by the ADHD of an overmedicated child.

  • Why are we expected to keep stating the obvious when it clearly falls on deaf ears? Maybe it’s time for you people to abandon the dismissive rhetoric and stop recycling hollow platitudes that offer nothing of value. BF veterans are being sidelined because the franchise’s current direction no longer aligns with the expectations that once defined it. Battlefield’s core identity lies in large scale maps, levolution, and vehicle combat that feels intuitive and seamless. Qualities that made BF3 and BF4 stand out. Vehicles today feel like an afterthought because they are... their design is overly restrictive and limits the freedom and fluidity that once made vehicle combat a highlight of the experience. Even levolution now feels like an afterthought, as if it were finalized in the last stages of development.

BF6 offers only incremental improvements over 2042, which was a low bar to clear anyway. Maps are overcrowded with choke points that disrupt the flow and strategic depth of gameplay. If smaller maps are necessary, the player count should be scaled accordingly to preserve meaningful engagement. Lastly, the removal of a server browser is more than a missing feature, it represents a loss of player control and community accountability. While no system is perfect, giving server administrators more control would ease the load on anti-cheat teams and brings back choice and governance to the player base.

Like the vacation in Scotland...hoping to get there myself.  I was about 2 hrs away as I just came back from a fly fishing trip to Iceland.  Not the same bright green rolling hills and such but I was in the "highlands" of Iceland.

Anyhow, I played BF6 all weekend long and I have to say, I rank it pretty low.  I prefer the larger maps with more strategy and such.  I know that may be old school...etc. but I felt all the maps, even the large scale maps - it was basically deathmatch with some tank action here and there.  Not that I did horrible but the kills were too fast, lack of ammo and had to find support folks, and the revives were ridiculously fast.  I had a LMG covering a hallway and mowed down 5 players in a room and a support player came in and instantly (and I mean instantly) revived all them in about 2 secs total...then I got killed because I had 5 players shoot at me all at once.  No time to get up and leave...etc.  The other problem was one of the maps we were attacking in Breakthrough and going to a cover area, I could see at least 10 scope glares and bullets whizzing by.  I looked at the leaderboard and saw 14 out of the 24 players on the other team were Recon.  That's BS...if we're just going to have everyone snipe...what's the point??

I gave it a shot and even though my KD was probably 2-3 overall, it's too CoD like to me and I hate that type of gameplay.  So for those that are out there that like it - so be, I don't have any ill will towards those who like it or the developers but it's not my cup of tea.  I did have a pre-order in and then cancelled it thru the Xbox store.  They already refunded my order so no harm done.  I just wish they would have it that it could cater to a wider spectrum of players.  Based on what they did, I doubt they'll change it much to change "how it feels".  I might be wrong but I doubt it...they would have to do a fair amount of code changes to change things.  I'll keep tabs on the game as it closer to the official release but I'm not holding my breath.  Besides, it will allow me to get more landscaping done and get some fly fishing in this fall...things that I also enjoy and tend to neglect.

I defended it against the naysayers prior to playing it myself - basically giving it the benefit of a doubt but it's not my style of gaming.  To each his own...good luck and maybe I'll see you guys later.

Operation metro was a good map because it offered something different from the rest of the maps. But nobody ever said "make every map a meatgrinder please"...

1 or 2 out of 10 cqc maps with high pacing are a good balance to change up the playstyle a bit. Problem now is that they're tipping the scale to almost everything is high paced and close quarters. Abandoning completely what a true battlefield game is. An open sandbox all out warfare with vehicles. That is what people are mad about.

  • This isnt anything like call of duty. In cod, when you shoot, your sight moves, and thats where your next bullet goes. your sight is on target, you get hit markers

In battlefield, you shoot. Your sight moves a little, bullets go flying everywhere.
