Why can Dice never lean towards Squad, Hell Let Loose, Arma?
Once again, we're getting a Battlefield that leans more towards Call of Duty.
Map size is one of the larger culprits here, and it's not just about it being small, but rather the flow of the map, and yeah, also it's size.
In one of the maps, I spawned into the HQ, hopped into a vehicle and drive about 100 Feet up a hill, turned the corner already there were enemies and a cap objective. So close to main HQ spawn.
They then came around the corner and could shoot directly into HQ spawn. This should never be a thing.
Downtime, or quiet time, isn't actually a bad thing. Loading up in vehicles, doing transport runs, makes the game feel more alive, more connected to your teammates. It makes transport vehicle more important.
Makes positioning really important. Making the gameplay more dynamic, or fluid. So far from what I've played, it's spawn and have enemies all around you 24/7, 5 seconds from spawn.
Not every CQC map needs to be a block with lanes for INF combat. Just look at Zavod for how to make a good INF map, and still with armor.
The instant gratification that Dice is once again replicating to appeal towards a different audience is once again, making a game that could be great, barely good.
Sure, there are other maps not yet revealed, and said to be bigger, and yet from what has been leaked or otherwise said, I somehow doubt they are going to be such a massive difference concerning all this.
Other things, like helicopters and jets being railroaded is another problem. They are so on rails, you can tell they are made for a young kid to be able to master.
Yeah, not everything being accessible without some time and effort isn't a bad thing!
Anyway, hope those bigger maps knock it out of the park.
