I have the same problem and BF2042 was also causing my PC to "cook". These games are not optimized for PC despite what they say.
There is not much we can do I am afraid.

Same situation. It seems to vary a lot though. I have a I9-9900K with a 3070TI. My card is coasting the whole time while my CPU is on fire. I tried to lasso a few cores but it didn’t do much. Let me know if you find a solution.

Hi,
First, if you play on EA, activate the in-game overlay.
Relaunch and see if it changes.
If that doesn't change create a file with Notepad called "user.cfg".
Copy this inside and replace the 6 and 12 with your processor's specifications:
Thread.ProcessorCount 6
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 12If you're not familiar with this, go into the game and enable the FPS indicator. There will be a green line in the top left corner with the processor's specification like for example for me:
CPU Core: 12 Job threads: 6Place this file in the game folder.
This solves the problem for some people

I have been playing it on steam, but I will try out the second option. Thanks for the hint!
