Keyboard and Mouse Randomly Lock Up

I'm not sure what triggers this, but at random moments, my keyboard and mouse lock up, and I cannot use them as intended. Either my character is stuck running, or my character just stops moving altogether. The mouse still allows me to move my character around, but none of the mouse buttons work (side buttons, scroll button, left/right click). The keyboard becomes completely unresponsive. Key combinations such as ALT+Tab or ALT+F4 stop working. Weirdly enough, CTRL+ALT+Delete works, but once it hits the menu, I can't use the mouse or keyboard arrows to select anything. I am forced to restart my whole computer to get everything to run again.

I removed everything attached to my computer and disabled any applications running in the background... Still no dice. This is the Steam variant. I have not tried re-downloading it from a different platform.
