Nvidia Driver Lock Prevents Game Launch – Please Allow Older Stable Drivers

Tjena!
I’m unable to play the Battlefield 6 beta due to a strict driver version check. I get the following error:
"Detected NVIDIA GeForce driver version 572.60. The required driver version is 576.88 or later."

The game requires NVIDIA driver version 576.88 or newer, but I’m currently using 565.90 (released 2024-01-10), and have also tested 572.60. Both drivers seem far more stable for me across multiple games like Battlefield 1, 3, 5, and CS2.
The newer NVIDIA drivers don’t seem to work properly with my EVGA RTX 3080. For example, in BF6 (like Conquest mode), I get around 20 FPS and only ~11% GPU usage — the card doesn’t seem to fully engage. Same issue in CS2. When I roll back to older drivers, everything works fine.

As far as I can tell, EVGA only officially supports up to 572.60 for the 3080:
https://www.evga.com/support/download/

Please consider allowing support for stable older drivers, or at least provide a way to bypass the driver check. Right now, I’m completely locked out of the beta, even though my hardware is more than capable of running the game.

Tack på förhand!

If you were wondering about the other specs it is these:
    i7 12700k
    32GB 3200
    M2 storage
and ofc the culprit, EVGA 3080
    Running Win10 22h2

just download the driver from nvidia's site/nvidia app. i have no idea why you use evga site

  • Exactly - same scenario for me. :(
I am completely excluded from the beta - and therefore also from the main game.
NO - I will NOT download a new driver.
My driver works perfectly in ALL other games.
    Stable.
    Super fast.
    Smooth.

    Never touch a running system.
With Fortnite, for example, you get a message that the driver is “outdated” and it is recommended that you install a new one.

However, if you do NOT want to do this, you will NOT be excluded from the game. Absolutely disappointing like that. I would like to decide for myself which driver version I install - not EA and not Battlefield decides that.

I won't play it - I won't touch my system because of a game like that.
Too bad, but then it's not meant to be.

    +1

I do play other games and i am able to see difference between "old" and newer drivers(incl 380.88). It doesn't matter win10 or 11, amount of monitors or whatever - results are the same. Therefore i do understand that this is nvidia fault or THE "smart" plan. However, dear EA, it is on you to allow run BF6 on RTX 3080 with drivers reliesed before stupid 50 series arrived.

After being mad n stuff i tried driver after driver and ddu in between.
5.77 worked for me, with surprisingly not that bad performance drop.
The game now runs "smooth" but on 90+ fps  @ 2k on High , playing conquest, on domination it was alot more so i got to play the great game after all! :)
Ive only tried CS and BF6, and CS seems only to be affected in the wait time for alt tab, longer wait now...

I do grab them from Nvidia but i find it strange that EVGA haven't released them at their site, makes me think they haven't had any changes or EVGA not supporting it anymore.

Yeah this is really stupid. Now I'll have to risk breaking or getting worse performance on all my other games just so BF 6 will run. I don't even see a technical reason for why they need to do this

I suppose they did just very limited testing on 3-4 versions old drivers.
This is the first BF i know of to limit old Drivers, and also the first BF to have a stable beta (more stable than others atleast).
I remember BF4 beta, that was pretty much unplayable without the newest GPU /CPU available, but at launch FPS was good on my older stuff at that time.
That said, this limitation is surely only for stability and is hopefully removed at launch.

BTW Nani86AP  id try DDU and then install only the 5.77, its been working good for me now in multiple games, i guess this is the first stable GPU driver for me since 565.90 (10012024).
