Re: Open Letter to EA – The Oceanic REDSEC Community

I am requesting a refund for my REDSEC Season 4 Battle Pass, and I encourage anyone affected by this issue to consider requesting one as well.

I purchased the Battle Pass with the expectation that I would be able to play on Oceanic (OCE) servers, as I had in previous seasons. Since EA removed the OCE servers, I can no longer access matches with an acceptable connection, making it impractical to play and complete the Battle Pass that I paid for.

The current alternatives are not a reasonable substitute. Casual mode is PvE rather than PvP, and there is effectively no access to Ranked, with players regularly sitting in queue for 45 minutes or more without finding a match.

Under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), consumers are entitled to guarantees that digital products and services will be of acceptable quality and fit for their intended purpose. The removal of local servers has significantly changed the service I purchased and has prevented me from reasonably using the Battle Pass as intended.

The ACCC states that businesses cannot exclude these consumer guarantees simply because a product is digital or because their refund policy says otherwise. In this case, the Battle Pass no longer provides the value or functionality that I could reasonably expect when I made the purchase.

For these reasons, I believe I am entitled to a refund and request that EA provide a full refund for my REDSEC Season 4 Battle Pass.

If my request is declined, I ask that you provide the specific reason for the refusal, including how that decision complies with my rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Best,

Denzel Jackson

You wont get a refund here i suggest do a charge back or take it back to eb games or where ever you brought it.

As a fellow oceanic/asia region player i believe there has been issues in other parts of that region inc singapore in which people cant get matches and has been an ongoing problem.

Obviously, this is not the place to request a refund, so I guess this is mostly about making the issue known.

If I may, as your region is far from the only one that has lost its server, resulting in greater pings and frustration all around, may I suggest a more holistic approach? I've been asking for DICE to communicate more transparently about its servers: what servers are available, which were taken down, why and what were the criteria, and what's the plan concerning higher pings.

Going region by region seems like a much weaker approach.

Please, if any developers read this: we love this game. We just feel like the OCE community is being neglected.

Players across Australia and New Zealand are leaving the game in record numbers because we no longer have regional servers. All we're asking for is the ability to connect to servers in our own region so we can actually play REDSEC Ranked again.
