Casual Breakthrough - why does only one side get a tank?

I don't get it... Sometimes two tanks, and they MASSACRE the side without one. What is the idea behind this stupidity?

Google says it's a bug, and I have been waiting for a fix, but it never comes.

  • Hi Steven_Thailand,

Breakthrough is an asymmetric mode, so both sides don't get the same number of vehicles, or any at all depending on the map or sector. Dice have also recently increased the number of vehicles available to attackers, but they didn't also mention that there was an issue where new vehicles were spawning while earlier ones were still active, and they've released a fix:

Not really sure why you're calling me out, but of course I play the game. I wouldn't volunteer here otherwise. Actually it's the only game I'm currently playing in my limited free time.

Breakthrough is also the main mode I play, and has been since BFV (BF1 too when it was Grand Operations and Shock Operations). I also explained why there is an imbalance of vehicles, other than it being the nature of the mode, and that Dice have said there were more becoming available than they should.

Let me guess KingBibi, you didn't read what Elliot wrote.

Having two tanks some times was stated as being a bug. And it isn't a mode that is meant to be symmetrical.

If it were symmetrical, the map would never advance and every match would end in attackers losing. Symmetric is each side holding their position, which means an attacker loss by default. The purpose of the tank is to advance the match to the next objective.  The goal is for every match to end at the last objective with a 50/50 chance of one or the other side winning.

They analyze the match metrics and adjust things to try to achieve an even win rate. They are looking at the data and are considering adding more stationary defense weapons to balance their previous adjustment, to hopefully prevent everyone from feeling they need to be engineer as a defender.

The problem with Breakthrough is the trash maps, so about the only easy thing the devs can do to try and balance things better is tweak the vehicles.  The mode, and it's predecessors used to be amazing fun, but they have somehow butchered it
