Concerns About Team Balance and Matchmaking

Just take a look at the attached screenshots from a match on **Hagental Base: Subsurface**. At this point in the round, my team was bleeding out with barely 400 tickets left, while the enemy team was still sitting comfortably at over 1000.

If you look at their scoreboard, it is just ridiculous. If anyone is still trying to claim that this is "normal gameplay", then something is severely off with their perception of reality. Look at those stats: 39-2, 32-2, 22-0, 19-3, 18-0, 10-0... Even if we assume they are playing as a highly coordinated medic squad and constantly reviving each other, this is simply not something that can be statistically correct in a normal lobby.

Sure, maybe one or two players in a match can be exceptionally good and have a crazy round. But *this* many players pulling off near-flawless god-tier stats on the exact same team? Come on.

And let's play devil's advocate for a second: if we assume none of them are using software assists and they truly are *this* naturally gifted, then the matchmaking system is completely and utterly broken. You cannot put half a lobby of "top 1% pro players" on a single team to completely steamroll the rest of the server.

Either the cheat epidemic is exactly as bad as we are saying, or the matchmaking is fundamentally ruined. Either way, it completely destroys the fun of the game.

  • I am starting to see the same thing. 

    Not that long ago seeing a lopsided 1000-0 to 900-0 regular Conquest game across all maps was rare, occasionally on certain maps of course but not the norm. Now it is rare to see a game end with the winning team being 200 to 300 up, the majority of games are very lopsided. Joining games midflight, starting at the beginning, does not matter.

    It suggests EA is going with matchmaking with a predetermined winning and losing team, down to the player mix with expectations of play. Then perhaps flipping things around so that some players are flipped to the predetermined win team, but not all meaning some will lose-streak largely at EA hands. 

    How the players rank on the winning vs. losing team suggests the same thing as the screenshot above. Several, if not a fourth of the team, players are at 16:1, 18:1 or better KDRs usually quickly with everyone on the losing team hardly at 1:1 KDR even at the top players on the losing team. 

    Between software assists, and imbalance between PC players and EA sanctioned Console controller capabilities for near aim assist locks target to terget, this is made much worse. 

    EA's quest to turn the Battlefield franchise into COD-lite, they seem to have got it done. 

  • Scoring doesn't just work off kills/deaths, perfect example: Recon has the motion sensor that refreshes itself every 5mins, you put that motion sensor in the right place where it can't be destroyed by grenades, it will spot everybody (infantry & vehicles) you will gain points not just for spotting alone but also for any infantry/vehicles that are killed/destroyed, this is why the RECON class is the most favourable, also having the C4 for easy destruction on ground vehicles, and the drone for spotting/destroying spawn beacons etc... People don't choose that class for sniper rifles as you constantly need ammo, when choosing the sniper rifles you choose the SUPPORT class for the constant ammo. Scoring is also higher if you are in the boxed area getting defensive kills if defending or kills in the boxed area if you are attacking... it doesn't just work off kills/deaths like the old games did

    there are definitely serious match making issues with team balancing - both levels and no. of teammates - as well filling a game up at the start taking a really long time

    This is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about insanely high kills in close quarter urban rounds.
