As a reminder to everyone, player customisation is not in the beta at all so it is too early to speak so definitively on being “forced”. The feature has likely always been there / intended to begin with, we just can’t see it yet. All of this is entirely speculative until we see the final form.
Yes engineer is locked at the moment but I fully expect that’s just to show that both genders are represented in the game for the purposes of the beta. I’m happy to eat my socks on this one but it’s almost certainly going to be in the full game if not this final beta weekend.
