If I'm not mistaken the beta was like this but I could be wrong. Either way, it would be best I think to make your character gender completely random upon each spawn, regardless of class and faction. If you let us choose then don't lock genders behind grind walls. That's just petty. Allow us to choose absolutely or not at all and make it completely random.
not trying to be rude..but your seriously complaining cause you cant play as a girl in a first person shooter when your barely even going to see your character?, like bf6 has monumental issues...not being able to play as girl or boy at a choice is seriously the last thing they need to bother themselves with..its the most petty issue ive ever heard someone complain about.

it's about hearing the character and other characters nearby. Sometimes it can be a little annoying, and a little reminder about the overall political climate that always seems to seep into games these days. It's like political slop and I get why some companies feel bullied into it. I won't stop playing the game because of this by any means.
By the way, what monumental issues are you seeing? Technical, gameplay? So far the only gameplay issue I see is when you get shot your accuracy isn't affected. For example I was shooting an enemy within 5m with a machine gun and connecting shots, the other player got me with two shots while he was being shot. Wasn't a headshot either. Or the occasional gravity boosts? Monumental issue would be something that breaks the game or impedes the game in a way that makes it unplayable or unenjoyable.
ever hear of Portal?..the mode that before launch they promised would have 1 sever for every single copy bought then on launch every server was full? meaning anyone who wants to play portal will struggle or just not be able to , so yes it impedes the game in a way that makes it UNPLAYABLE AND UNENJOYABLE
