EA, Why Are Loyal BF6 Players Being Forced to Pay Twice?

I've been supporting Battlefield 6 since day one, and honestly, today's Game of the Year Edition announcement has left me incredibly disappointed.

Let me explain how ridiculous this situation is.

I originally purchased Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition for €99. Since then, I've been buying the Battlefield Pro Battle Pass every season, paying for EA Play every month, purchasing Battlefield Coins, and spending countless hours playing and unlocking content.

I've consistently supported this game with both my time and my money.

And what do I get in return?

A new Game of the Year Edition that bundles almost everything I've already paid for or unlocked, along with a handful of exclusive rewards that I now have to pay extra to obtain.

Let's look at what EA is actually selling.

The new Game of the Year Edition includes:

  • Battlefield 6 base game.
  • The original Phantom Pack.
  • Ultimate Shortcut Kit, including class and weapon unlocks.
  • A Battlefield Pro token.
  • Exclusive soldier skin.
  • Additional dog tags and player titles.

Sounds like a great deal for someone who has never purchased the game.

But what about those of us who already own the Phantom Edition and have supported Battlefield 6 since launch?

I already own the base game.

I already paid for the Phantom Edition.

I've already unlocked practically every weapon and class through actual gameplay.

I've already purchased the Battlefield Pro Pass for the current season.

So what exactly am I supposed to be paying for AGAIN?

From what I can see in the in-game store, most of the content included in the GOTY Upgrade is already marked as "You already own this item."

And yet, the price remains €30 (€27 with EA Play).

For me, the only things that appear to have any real value are the new soldier skin, a dog tag, a few player titles, and some vehicle progression shortcuts.

THAT'S IT.

And I'm supposed to pay almost €30 for that?

And then there's the Ultimate Shortcut Kit…

Another €26.99.

The store advertises 73 items, but many of those items are already unlocked on my account.

Weapons? Already unlocked.

Class equipment? Already unlocked.

Specializations? Already unlocked.

Most of the content? ALREADY OWNED.

The only shortcuts I might actually benefit from are some of the vehicle unlocks.

Why should a player who has spent hundreds of hours unlocking content pay the exact same price as someone who hasn't unlocked anything?

Where is the discount for content we already own?

Where is the recognition for the time we've invested?

And here's the part that really annoys me.

I JUST BOUGHT THE SEASON 5 BATTLEFIELD PRO PASS FOR €24.99.

Then EA releases the GOTY Upgrade, which includes a Battlefield Pro token.

Seriously?!

Had I known this was coming, I could have considered purchasing the upgrade instead of buying the Pro Pass separately.

Why wasn't this communicated more clearly before launching the new season?

Why are existing customers being put in a position where they have to pay for overlapping content?

What happens to the value of a Battlefield Pro token if you've already purchased the current pass?

This entire pricing structure makes absolutely no sense from the perspective of someone who has been supporting the game since launch.

And let's not forget what happened at launch.

I spent THREE MONTHS waiting for my missing Battlefield Pro token because of the problems with the original launch.

Three months of contacting support, complaining, following up, and fighting to receive something I had already paid for.

And after finally dealing with that mess, here we are again, with another confusing bundle that makes existing customers feel like they're being punished for purchasing content early.

EA, I have a genuine question.

Why does being a loyal customer feel like a disadvantage?

Someone buying Battlefield 6 today can get a package containing the base game, Phantom content, shortcut kits, a Pro token, and additional exclusive cosmetics.

Meanwhile, players who purchased the most expensive edition at launch, bought every Pro Pass, subscribed to EA Play, and spent hundreds of hours playing are being asked to pay again for bundles filled with things they already own.

How is that fair?

I'm not asking for everything to be free.

I'm asking for a FAIR UPGRADE PATH for existing customers.

EA should seriously consider:

  1. A separate GOTY Cosmetics Upgrade containing only the new exclusive skins, dog tags, and player titles, at a reasonable price.
  2. Loyalty discounts based on which editions and packs players already own.
  3. Adjusted pricing for shortcut kits when a player has already unlocked most of the included content.
  4. Clear communication about Battlefield Pro tokens, particularly when new editions launch alongside a new season.
  5. Recognition for early supporters instead of repeatedly selling us overlapping content.

Here's the bottom line.

I've spent far more than €99 supporting Battlefield 6.

I've purchased premium content, paid for EA Play month after month, bought Battlefield Coins, supported every season, and invested countless hours into the game.

And today, for the first time, I'm seriously questioning whether I should ever spend another euro on Battlefield 6.

Not because I don't enjoy the game.

But because I genuinely feel like my loyalty means absolutely nothing.

Instead of making me excited about the Game of the Year Edition, this announcement makes me want to stop buying Battle Passes, stop purchasing coins, cancel my recurring payments, and simply play with whatever I already own.

Is that really the message EA wants to send to its most dedicated players?

I'm not asking for special treatment.

I'm asking EA to stop treating its existing customers as if they haven't already paid for the content being sold back to them.

Please, EA and DICE, reconsider this pricing structure and introduce a fair upgrade option for players who already own the Phantom Edition and most of the included content.

And to everyone else in the same situation: please share your experience and support this discussion.

We supported Battlefield 6 from the beginning. We shouldn't feel punished for it.
