How are teams balanced?

How are teams balanced in this game?

Just played a game of rush (12 vs 12 mode).

Our team had 2 players over level 100, one was 101, one was 112. Our lowest level player was 2. 
Their team had 5 players over level 100, the lowest of which was 124 the highest of which was 200. Their lowest level player was 8.

That meant our team's combined level was around 600. Whilst their team's combined level was about 1300. 

Now, I appreciate that level doesn't equate to skill, you could be low level but a FPS God and you could be high level but not be very good and just player 24/7. But, whilst level doesn't equate to skill it does equate to experience which does have some value. 

To add, these levels were at the start of the match so it wasn't like people had dropped out of the game and the game was being filled by the first players available so the match could have still started with the exact same players but with levels more evenly distributed.

This makes me wonder what mechanism the developers are using to create teams and what the logic behind it is. Any insight?

  • Level in game now just a numbers.
    You have only one way to check real exp of your or enemy team.
    Just play and don't see to lvl.

  • They use EOMM (Engagement Optimized Match Making).  It’s a mess of system often times created crazy inbalanced teams for the sake of making matches quick & intense. It’s all algorithm nowadays. Back in the day you could switch teams or it was random people. Now every person is specially placed in games based on their ranking in the algorithm.

    This is totally backwards though... intense matches are the CLOSE matches. Steamrolls are the OPPOSITE of intense, they're completely boring, winning or losing.

    80% of my games lately are extremely unbalanced. I'm seeing quiet a few threads on this already, hesitant whether to even bother making one lol :l

    From everything I have seen they matchmake based on your emblem choice.  I know there aren't a lot of choices, but I run the eagle and I ALWAYS have another eagle with me.  My buddy runs howling wolf, and surprise there's always another howling wolf in our squid.  

    This remains true after changing the emblem too.  Squad always has matching.

    In reality though I have no idea what they use for matchmaking but it's busted.  Most of my games are stomps one way or the other.  1 in maybe 5-6 are an actual battle.  I'm not sure if the system is busted or maybe the botfarming broke something, but it's bad.

    Interesting, first I've heard of this. Is this just your conclusion from your own experience, or has this been confirmed anywhere?. Also, this sounds like more specifically for SQUAD matching, not overall match/team balancing?

    It is completely daft because some games I might be feeling intense and want to obliterate the enemy and cap 15 flags but the next game I might just want to cap one flag and camp around it for a high kd, or I might be recon and get out out my drone for spotting, or I might just wanna be the gunner in a tank. How can the algorithm know my mental state? 😀

    Exactly what pisses me off about this game. I play for 2 hours and really only get one good game out of it. I could play Metro for 2 hours and every game would be immense, win or lose.
