When Battlefield Studios fixes the issues regarding the spread, it will somewhat lengthen the engagement distance and by doing so, it'll start favoring Assault Rifles and LMGs more. It'll become easier to engage enemies before they get the chance to surround you.
ARs and LMGs are perfectly fine if you know how to aim lol. Try burst fire and don't hold down shoot while full running. I have >15,000 kills with them and half of them maxed out. SMGs are not that good.
The only issue with engagement distances is the extremely low headshot multiplier, but I believe that's meant to balance the TTK in the 200HP battle royale mode. Still pretty lame.
You responded to such an old response of mine that there has already been a balance patch to nerf SMGs.

When was this, exactly?

October 28th patch 1.1.1.0, the season 1 patch. While it didn't actually fix the spread bugs, there has been a rebalance of the spread values.

Hahaha bro. Before and after testing of that patch showed no difference. Totally a placebo patch! I don't even think the patch included any spread changes. For instance, the spread bugs it claimed to fix were not fixed. Regardless, SMGs are not OP and never have been OP.
As of the 11/18 patch, they have lower spread than ever it seems btw.

SMGs aren’t balanced. They still shoot laser beams, have ZERO bloom, next to zero
recoil and can outshoot most ARs at 40 to 50 meters.

Not really. They might be easier to use, but the damage drop off at range is pretty abysmal. Assault rifles tend to wreck SMGs at those ranges.
