Let’s admit it, It’s over

I Just played the new season maps. Vegas with Vegas charms? PC cheaters and no way to counter it. 168 ping players jumping around. Gauntlet is gone and replaced with rapid royal? No one wants this. Gauntlet was an interesting mode. Come on man, these new maps are the most uninspiring and boring crap. This is just filler content to suck just an a little more money out of us. What happened to the days of Bad Company 2 Vietnam DLC? I just give up on this and it’s sad, I wanted BF to come back. I really don’t think it will ever be back. I started with Bad Company 2. They will never make another BF like Bad Company 2. We didn’t buy skins and charms and play dress up up my operator in a cape and mask and dangle charms on our guns, no we played as a team with the characters that came with the game and communicated, made friends and rivals and we met every night on the same maps, the same guns, the same character skins and we had fun. Look at yourself and be honest, what are we doing right now?

I think the biggest problem with BF6 is the map design. Don't get me wrong, the maps look absolutely stunning, but actually playing them is a different story...

When I first jumped into Wake Island, I was expecting something similar to the BF2 version. Instead, every flag feels like a massive map of its own.  DICE really needs to take a closer look at the classic BF2 maps, like Strike at Karkand.
Those classic maps had a certain flow to them. They were designed like a funnel, forcing players into intense firefights and bringing both teams into direct conflict. You always knew where the action was, and the battles could get absolutely crazy.

Honestly, just copy and paste the old layouts, add some new features and a fresh coat of paint, and you're good to go. The important thing is to keep the original spirit alive.

That's what I want to see again. Look at the old BF2 maps, keep things simple, and focus on what made them great in the first place. No need to overcomplicate things. Just intense firefights, constant action, and proper Battlefield moments.

The same goes for the new maps. They look amazing, but once again, playing them is a different story...

My experience is almost exactly the same as yours.

Before Bad Company 2, I honestly looked down on FPS games. I still remember my time playing Bad Company 2 so clearly. After countless defeats, one day I was crossing the road outside our base when I unexpectedly ran into an enemy who was crossing the road too. I managed to kill him. He was the first enemy I had ever defeated in the game, and from that moment on, I fell in love with Battlefield.

I've played every Battlefield game since then, and Bad Company 2 remains my all-time favourite, although Battlefield 1 is another one I absolutely love. I would give anything to see a remastered version of Bad Company 2.

But in today's gaming industry, where everything is built around long-term engagement, live-service models and in-game purchases, I sometimes wonder whether we'll ever get to experience that kind of pure gaming again.

Battlefield 6's Gauntlet is a perfect example. Just when I was starting to lose interest in the main game, I discovered Gauntlet. From that point on, I played it almost every day. And what happened? Instead of getting new maps and more support, the mode was simply removed.

What are we supposed to say about that?

It feels like we don't really own the games we play anymore. The developers and publishers can change them, remove the things we love, or shut down the experiences we've invested our time in whenever they want.

They keep talking about how games need to make more money, yet we can't even keep playing the modes we genuinely enjoy.

Isn't that both ridiculous and heartbreaking?

I miss the days when games were made to be fun first, when we played together as a team, made friends, built rivalries, and came back every night because we loved the game itself.

I really wanted Battlefield to return to what made it special. Sadly, I'm beginning to wonder whether those days are gone for good.

You do realize that a large number of people using cheats are xbox users who have jailbroken their xbox. There's cheaters all around

  • Yea, this update, the start of year 2, which should be something great... is a giant letdown.

The cheaters are still running rampant, the netcode and hitreg is actually worse than ever before, the VPN abusing CN players are still getting onto other servers, the ground armor is in a horrible state, minus the AA armor which is now completely and 100% broken, the air is completely broken, with the little bird nerf being only a """"nerf"""" in name, since it can still absolutely destroy all and not care in the least, inf AA (manpads, stinger, igla, etc) is still big old donkey doodoo and completely worthless and it's better to bring any dumb launcher to try and fight air, the new maps are mid at best and complete spawncamping trash at worst, the old maps need work, but they rarely see any change, and any changes that are made generally do nothing, they've nerfed EXP gain to sell weapon shortcut (There is an incredibly long string of very angry words I would use to describe this, and 9/10 would get my post deleted and account restricted.), the weapon balance is still in a horrible place, half of the gadgets are so useless that it's more of a detriment to bring them than not, snipers are still completely overtuned and completely broken, consoles still get completely broken autoaim and less recoil and less bloom and lag advantage, players are still not able to disable crossplay...

I mean come on.  In every aspect of this game it is easier to find problems over good design.
