"This argument about controller vs mouse is exactly what EA/DICE want." Please explain...
It isn't just EA/DICE who use cross-play. Cross-play was always a bad idea but the gaming industry adopted it wholesale. Now everything we play has it. Games without it are the exception not the rule. So good luck getting them to remove it or even allow us to disable it.
As I pointed out but you completely ignore. Even if you were to get your way and cross-play be removed, you would still have controller players with BUILT IN ADVANTAGES. When you are in PC only lobbies getting graped by controllers, you will complain about it then and I would just say "I told you so!"
I agree with you Cross-play is "a problem" but not "THE problem." I have not played in PC only lobbies so I can't say the performance is better or I do not get killed as much or my shots register more. I would like to think that is the case but I doubt it is. The net code on EVERY BF is crap when it comes out... Tell me one multiplayer version of BF that has NOT had net code issues from launch. Tell me one MP version of BF that hasn't had hit registration issues on launch. I am pretty sure it goes back further than cross-play.
No it isn't just DICE that use cross-play. I have no idea if other devs/games also suffer from bad netcode due to cross-play, but BF does.
Cross-play is a good idea if the game can mitigate the sync issues. DICE clearly cannot and so should give the option to opt out for everyone, not just console players.
I didn't ignore that controller players. I don't really care. It's just one annoyance. There should also be input-based cross-play options, but the most egregious bias that is PC players not getting the same options as console.
Yes, all multi-player games struggle with netcode issues, but I am _certain_ that cross-play introduces serious additional ones and so, once again, the option to opt out should be there for everyone.
I have tested it in and out of cross-play (when we could) and it was obvious to me.
