I have been a Gunsmith, and a long range rifle builder, and shooter for well over 30 years now.. I have a background in ballistics, I have created my own high powered rifle cartridges.. ( Wildcats) I have more round down range than most career military people.. I could not count the rounds I have made on my loading systems.. 100,s of thousands.. When Im workjing on a load for a wildcat the FIRST thing is to cronograph the speed, then calculate my Cartridges lethality in FPE, foot pounds of energy..
You can figure out a weapons power easily, what more you can also create algorithm's to calculate the FPE over different distances.. So you will have less power at 200 yards than you do at 50... ( get it?) Games should "BALANCE" Their weapons by making their performance EXACTLY the same as their RL counterparts.. This "Nerfing" Weapons based on community complaints is nonsense,,, Give us a hard core mode that is truly HARD ( Giggitty )
I can also figure ANY rifles recoil.. just need the weight.. I use the muzzle energy data, and rifles weight to calculate that...
EG M1Garand has around 20 ft lbs of energy when fired... thats the "Felt" recoil part " M4?? 4-5 ft lbs of felt recoil. With a system like this, MANY grey area's are cleared up with absolutels. Firearm ignorant Dev's making assumptions about things they have NO experience with never works out .
I would also use players with a DD214's to test my Betas. : P
