You've just completely screwed over a large portion of the player base just now by turning off weapon and attachment XP in portal servers.
I don't have time to play this game all day every day. I will never be able to be on par with other players without being able to unlock attachments and weapons faster. It takes incredibly long in a normal match for casual folks like me to unlock stuff.
I am a legitimate player who plays breakthrough and conquest matches against bots. I am too old and this game is sometimes too fast for me. I just want to relax after work and kill some bots with my friends, or by myself.
Now, i can't. I'm out until this is changed. This was the last straw for me. EA just completely screwed a lot of us over.
I only play Hardcore. In the past it was to escape wretched 3D spotting crutch. With this title it is essential to slow it down so I do not have to be a coked-up ferret to compete. They marketed this game, after the mistakes made on 2042 Portal, as having full XP and progression in Portal mode. I bought the game on this marketing, feeling relieved they had learned their lesson.
They have not learned, and this is a blatant bait-and-switch. I have put my ticket in with Steam for a refund. If I am denied, this is the final straw EA and you will never see another penny from me again. This is the most offensively stupid thing you could have done to address the XP bot farm issue. Not that is even an issue! If people want to unlock everything in a weekend then rush to the forums to complain about nothing to do, let them.
I have gone back to Insurgency Sandstorm. Again. A seven year old game that has just gotten more free content, and locks nothing away. A pure FPS with maps designed to be commensurate to the player count. No need to dangle carrots in front of you to play the game. Playing the game is its own reward. A design philosophy now utterly abandoned for greed.
