I think the elephant in the room here is:

what is/was wrong per se with the so-called 'XP farms'?

I get it that some dislike it. How does other people doing something different affect the enjoyment of those who do not do it?...

If then the argument becomes: "they were taking up server space!" — then EA should arrange for more? We're talking of a $50B market cap company. Plus, with the previously made commitment of "one persistent server per user".

Nothing in this poorly thought out decision by DICE makes sense.
