Its a financial move for EA, and nothing to do with community spirit or having people enjoy themselves. It serves only egoists willing to spend money to look good in a game with no meaning to life whatsoever.
Its purely so you buy extra stuff. This is why we need to lobby to change digital laws which protects no one but corporations and have the old ways back where you can rent a server and do whatever the frek you want. WHICH is why they removed that way.

EA are a BAD capitalist greedy company. Of course, you wont stop buying from them and they KNOW that.
