It would be very interesting and cool if everyone shared specifics on what they would consider as essential for this to work within the framework of BF6 and Portal to some degree.
For me it would be:
- The ability to spin up REAL persistent servers that are always there, and can be renewed on demand. Servers that are meant to offer a meaningful alternative to Official EA matchmaking servers, just with different maps and perhaps simple tweaks like closed weapon class system and disabled vehicles. Yes, this is theoretically possible today, but it simply does not work in reality! The server is buried in XP farm servers, has 0 discoverability, impossible to fill with real players, etc. In previous Battlefields, you would rent a server, gather a couple people and wait in server until it filled with random players and got promoted in the browser/multiplayer section.
- WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DEFINE OTHER USERS AS ADMINS AND MODS ON THESE SERVERS. IT CANNOT BE A PERSON DEPENDANT SYSTEM.
- Ability for admins to switch themselves, and other players or squads for balance. This should even be a feature in the game it self to allow people to switch to losing team or beginning of round, to allow people to help balance / play with their friends
All of this is essential features. Just make a middle thing where you can pay a monthly subscription or pay a sum for a set period of time to host a server in Battlefield 6, with priority visibility, discoverability and guaranteed persistent server that is always visible, and which can be browsed directly from the "MULTIPLAYER" section of the game for discoverability.
