Every time I try to find a proper game it’s just XP farms, hardcore, grind servers or empty lobbies with bots. The few real ones that exist are buried ten pages down and when you finally find one, it’s gone the next day because the owner can't consistently fill it, it gets shut down even when set to persistent. You can’t add other admins to help manage it, can’t switch teams to balance, can’t do anything to keep it running long term. It’s built for quick, temporary stuff, not proper servers that people actually want to play on every day.
Matchmaking is no better. You play one good round and the next game everyone is split up into new servers. You can’t return to the same match, you can’t build any kind of consistency. Half the time someone ends up stuck in queue or kicked into a new session while the rest of us are loading. It completely breaks any momentum.
Older Battlefields had it figured out. You could rent a server, set it up the way you wanted, and it would stay there. People learned which servers were good and kept coming back. That’s how the game stayed alive for years. Now it feels like everything is temporary and random. You can’t rely on anything staying. It’s honestly exhausting trying to just find a normal server that works and doesn’t vanish after a day.
If EA just added proper persistent servers again with real admin support and visibility, Portal would finally reach its potential. Right now it’s just wasted.
I'm honestly already losing interest and several other people share the same sentiment. It's a huge hassle to play with people, especially more than 4. And extremely challenging to navigate and find servers we enjoy
One of you should make an official comment and stance on this topic. You are already losing players and its gonna keep being a problem until the interest is completely gone.
