BF6 netcode felt identical to BF2042, in both the tech test and beta. So not good. At times in BF6, it felt great, just like 2042, but far too often people are taking way too much damage. Meanwhile I almost exclusively die instantly in every gun fight. I don't understand how enemies can start to take damage, then have the time to casually react to it, start running in circles or whatever. I'm literally never given that opportunity.
There's a lot of depth to the subject, but the problem stems from the way the networking has been implemented, physics, and game design. So it's hard to know where to begin. Something BF was playing around with more back in BF3 was players having momentum. Not sure what happened to that.
I noticed the other day while goofing around, swinging my mouse around mimicking players like Enders, that the physics get all weird. You can get weird sliding movement at times. Online games ALL fall apart when the servers can't accurately predict or understand the players movement. You see this all the time in Apex with Pathfinder, he comes sliding in from grappling, and 20hz servers are just not enough to accurately display where he is in the world. You aim at their character, but you can't seem to find the hit boxes.
BF6 beta than clearly had some physics issues. You would bump into something that your character can walk over, and it would pop up in the air a few feet. I saw it happening all the time to other players as well. I personally hate the physics in 2042, small rocks will yeet you 15 feet, grenades bounce randomly, like the server just gives up trying to calculate anything. I'm now getting dead slides like I'm playing Apex!
The vaulting in 2042 is an abomination, it yanks you towards objects 3 meters away all the time, you can launch yourself over a stretcher the same way you can a fence, takes forever sometimes, instantly for enemies. I'm bringing this up because on your screen, enemies are warping all over the place, watching their stream, just doing normal stuff, nothing special.
I'm curious to see what the reviews will be in BF6, because a lot of these players coming in haven't played 2042. The desync makes the game nearly unplayable at times. I have to play like a freaking positioning savant to do well in 2042. I die instantly, but my enemies eat bullets for days. 1v1's are out of the question, if there's any fairness to the fight, I lose no matter their rank. Like you, I have 30ms ping and no packet loss. I understand the game well I think, on my main account that I've used since the beta has nearly a 7.0 kd, and then I have an alt that's creeping up to a 10.0 kd that I use exclusively for infantry maps. My point is that it's grating, and I'm probably more sensitive to it than most since I'm actually playing this game daily for 4-5 months now. I don't think people understand just how insanely bad it is.
