Trying to understand (lack of) TTK changes.

So in their recent video, EA noted that while they heard everyone on TTK (What a common, modern line from EVERY dev) that they were not intending to make any changes outside of limb damage changes.

Their reasoning, or at least one point of that, was that if you flank and come across a 2v1 that you need a fast TTK to win.  So I assume they are taking the average reactions time of their players to say "If you can't kill your 2 enemies in less than a second, then you will always lose the 2v1."  I find the numbers they are using comical, because if you ask me the average reaction time of players is not even half a second, much less .2 seconds.

Of course, we have to assume you catch them unaware.  2 players means 2x damage, and you can't beat that.  You might kill 1, but not 2.  I mean, we wouldn't be thinking that a player SHOULD outdamage 2 players right?  Of course not, so you really only have to compete against 1 players reaction time, plus their TTK.  So a reaction time of .5 seconds, and lets say they are using a bad gun, so a TTK of .5 seconds.  That's 1 second for ONE guy to ID and then kill you.

Am I painting this picture clearly?  What it looks like is EA EXPECTS the one player to always win a 2v1.  The math adds up to say this.  Their words speak to say this.  My brain loses IQ to have heard this.

If you come across 2 other players as a lone player, you should win because of skill.  TTK can be .1 seconds, or it can be 10 seconds, or it can be about 12 years, the average length of a supreme commander match.  It is decided by SKILL, not that you TTK is super duper fast.

Then, you use basic logic, and realize that when you increase the TTK across the board, it effects both the 1 player AND the 2 players.  So yes, it takes you longer to kill the 2 players, but it also takes them longer to kill you.

Lastly, it completely REEKS of CoD, himothy, I'm THAT guy, I'm so special and perfect mentality that it clearly has no place in Battlefield.  BF is arcade.  BUT, it is supposed to reward tactical planning, good map play, and actual thinking over sprinting in full speed and just relying on OP gun to win every engagement.

Recoil changes are great though.  Bullet speed changes are great.  Keep going that direction.  Not hating on everything but this one really causes the old noggin to itch.  Next remove the turbo sweat booty slide bounce and I'll be happier than a pig in the most rank of muck.

  • TTK is literally the same for every player with the variance being weapons. How did you come to believe they're somehow forcing 1v2 to be favoured to the one.

The TTK changes are good, body shots stay the same and limbs do less. This will be another skill check so leg shot Larry and arm shot Andy have to aim higher if he wants to win.

Also this CoD obsession is pathetic.

  • TTK won't change because they're favoring brain dead console players with auto aim.  Those are the ones buying skins in the store.

  • Anyone else a little nervous about the change to weapons in the next patch?

Is everything you post here part of some humiliation thing? I don't consent, bro.

You joined the forum 5 days ago and you've already done all this? :D

Moreover, you only write about how brain dead console aimbots make your life miserable.

Instead, post some of your videos of how you play. How you cover angles, use terrain for cover and concealment. It seems to me that the problem is somewhere else ;)

in this battlefield 6 there is worst ttk ttd I have ever seen. it's really hard to kill soldier here. it needs a lot of bullet to kill. this is so unrealistic, feels like I play cod warzone ((

So I also reacted a bit when they said this, but to some extent it makes sense. Let’s push it to the limit: imagine we had a TTK of 5 seconds. You come across two enemies, taking them by surprise, and start shooting at one of them. They both react, let’s say over 0.5 seconds, and start shooting back. You obviously have zero chance of winning, and never could. Maybe if you got them in the back and one of them did not notice you gunning down their friend.

Basically, with a very low TTK, you have a chance to get one down and start shooting the second before that same second enemy even knows you’re there. I have to give it to them, it’s logical.

However, I really don’t think that’s the main point of a lower TTK, I’d argue it’s much more about how the gunplay feels. With higher TTK and bullet sponges, it immediately feels arcadey, something like Overwatch. Lower TTKs give a more realistic feel, say like Counter Strike. Considering they wanted a grounded feel, I’m not surprised by their choice.

And I don’t even mind in principle. For me the main issue with the very low TTK is how your netcode needs to be spot on for any of this to work well. Barring a bad mistake, whoever shoots first will win, so it imperative that what you see on screen is as accurate as possible. And I’d say we’re very far from that. Also with the lower player base and the closure of a bunch of servers, many players find themselves with higher pings which are very much not compatible with this low a TTK.

Its from one of the devs’ blog post, where they say they chose a low TTK because it gives you a better chance to win an encounter when going 2 vs 1, the OP did not come up with that.

  • One thread complaining about TTK being too short, another that it is too long... Pure comedy.
