The Sledgehammer & Vehicle Re-Balance

Greetings!
I come here to the Battlefield Forums to talk about the Sledgehammer and the relatively recent Vehicle Re-balance that was done to make Vehicle Combat better during the start of Season 3.

Now you might know why this is probably connected but to fill in the dots for those who don't, ever since the 1.0 Release of Battlefield 6 (Maybe even in the Beta if I'm remembering correctly), the Sledgehammer has stood out to me due to 3 points:

  1. The Sledgehammer can Damage or Destroy Buildings.
  2. The Sledgehammer restricts your movement speed while equipped to the same as holding your Primary or Secondary.
  3. The Sledgehammer can Damage Vehicles.

These three points give the Sledgehammer a Unique Identity compared to the other melees, and allows classes like Support to have access to a utility that can deal damage to vehicles, granted a very ineffective way to deal damage and a bad trade-off when considering infantry melee but a way nonetheless. I do hope that in a future season we'll get another different melee like the Sledge or even another melee with it's own unique properties that expand our options besides "Default Knife Remodel #4."

However as of the Season 3 Re-balance that improved the state of Vehicle Gameplay, the Sledgehammer without being mentioned in the patch-notes ended up getting nerfed (or possibly sometime earlier in Season 2, I didn't check during that period). The only vehicles the Sledgehammer can damage now is any Lightly Armored Vehicle, and while logistically speaking that this makes sense, it's still a bit sad to lose a small niche utility that the Sledgehammer had to itself.

And that's why I'm here today, in a probably vein effort to bring back the ability to deal melee damage to all vehicles with the sledgehammer!

Is this a stupid way to play? Yes!
Would your efforts be better elsewhere? Also... yes.
But is it fun? Well that depends, do you like doing dumb stuff in a Military Setting like pulling off a Rendezuke? C4 Bombing with Vehicles?  then yes, it's fun that gets players to think creatively to pull off stupid stuff in a video game, maybe even with a full squad of friends, and if you and your squadmates are smart enough to pull it off then you deserve to have fun with it.

  • Theres is only 2 vehicle is actualy fun to play or atleast playable , its LittleBird and MBTs ... thats it, !
    well its good in S3 MBTs got buff in term of deff or survivabilty, even tho the weaponry got nerf.

    Attack Heli , IFV , and BlackHawk is kinda mid tier to worst , its situational vehicle. 

    Attack Jet nearly worst vehicle, if you want be able to use it, u need high level skill like (Silk) or who ever a good pilot is, BUT, even with high level skill pilot, A-Jet r so painful / stressful to use.

    and now , Stealth Jet and AA-Tank , is absolutly garbage, its trash.

    - Stealth Jet : it cant vs infantry ,,, bad vs ground vehicle ,,, cant hunt down helis ,,, and still 50:50 vs Att-Jet ,,, what is good about S-Jet actualy? its just flying around , getin lockon, in and out, do barerly dmg to what ever the pilot target is (except to another Jet) ,,, literly cant do anything else ,,, and then , its funny that Gen5th Jet , can be smoked, melted, so EZ by Heli, only in BF6 ye .

    - AA-Tank : its bad vs infantry ,,, bad vs ground vehicle ,,, barerly take down aircraft ... AND THEN, the maingun, is soooooooo bad , yet , the cost of using this maingun vehicle is destroying ur eyes, headache, migrain, bcs of its stupid "muzzle flash" ... truly , i just want the devs firing that maingun on their screen (velocity round, bcs its the only option that useable) for just an 5min , so u all (devs) can open ur eyes to develop / working on this bf6.

    ngl , im enjoying this game, but mostly as infantry, since its not Battlefield , its CODfield.
    Funny thing is that , the gunplay , is a joke, like , u can (slideshoot) or (jumpshoot) accuratetly, yeah its CODfield.

    Still, i put a small of hope on this game after looking to recent / previous update .... like, oh god finaly , Radar + bigger minimap , those diabolical guided Missile/Shells got punish nerf , Big and good layout map, etc. Even tho theres is still an issue that intolerable.

    Whose great idea was it to weaken launchers and strengthen helis?

    You've always turned the great Obliteration mode into hell on earth for one side.

    The maps are already small and have a lot of terrain. The launcher lock takes a really long time. The vehicles have unlimited flares. They recharge very quickly. Every pilot abuses TOO LOW mechanics to avoid the lock. And even if someone gets hit, the pilot just flies over the hill, his health regenerates, flares are restored, and he can mow again. Because damaged launchers are a joke. There's no point in taking a needle, it takes up a slot and it's useless anyway. I'm really upset. In the chat, I saw the winning side write that they should win because it's not fun.

    Seriously? Why should I take an engineer who is ridiculous, I have 5 missiles, it takes a long time to reload a missile from the support and the efficiency is 0. Pilots have no respect. Engineers are not a threat.

    And really no - a lot of people had IGLA etc. but the heli can't be taken down, because of the bad map design and too low mechanics, which don't even make sense.

    I'm starting to play maps without vehicles, because they are terribly unbalanced.

    And you don't even have to be a sweaty pilot. Anyone can fly low before they get out of the killzone. And engineers aim, they have TOO LOW and most of the time someone shoots them. Amazingly funny.

    You've cut the classes to the bone. Most of them have no way to defend against vehicles. Teamplay simply doesn't work. It's not rewarding. For how fast and dynamic the game is, everything is terribly slow for infantry because of the small maps.

    I feel like everyone is frustrated with it. Getting a tank is no longer HIGH RISK - HIGH REWARD but a sure bet. It's like shooting a lamb.

    I'm curious about the next update. I feel like getting the game and putting it up for counter-sale on COD. At least there, they respect the player. And I can't stand COD.

    And now a serious question - do the developers and designers play the game on public servers? In my opinion, not... I don't even feel like turning on the game anymore, because of the dominance of vehicles. I'm either cannon fodder or I mow everything down. Where's the adrenaline?

    You really have to decide who you're making the game for.

    Why did you choose such stupid mechanics.

    Why are you strengthening vehicles when MOST people play infantry. That's where the reviews and sales are. A tank should be a reward for treating it with feeling. And not for driving to a point and dominating there.

    Helis ruin the game. They are agile, they are not shoot down, you have made one shot - one kill with RPG impossible... When the pilot is already low on the action, he simply has to reckon with it... that he can be shot down somewhere.... simply bravo.

    It could have been the best battlefield and you still make strange decisions. But it's your job and your money. And according to steamDB etc. it doesn't look good.. and why..?

    but that's your business.
