Who started playing Battlefield 1942 and is still on board 2 decades later?

I used to buy this magazine called PC gamer and one day it had a CD with a Demo of Battlefield 1942. I flipped it into my desktop and after loading found myself on an island my computer was not real up to date to play the game but when I saw a Japanese zero plane flying over and saw a guy parachuting out trying to land on the island and realized this is another person behind their computer trying to find someone to shoot I was mesmerized as I had only played scripted games till that point.

I went to to shop and had them upgrade my computer with the needed graphics card, RAM etc and started my adventure. I had a decent flight simulator joystick and in the beginning played only the "El Alamein" map trying to fly a plane and bomb tanks. I was a real "one trick pony" being only able to fly and maybe jump out to capture a flag but became good at it till the degree that when I ran out of bullets I could hit soldiers with the wings of my plane and kill them. I bought a surround system and blasted it up till tinnitus level to get the full on experience inviting people to my place over the weekends to take turns playing and convincing them to buy a copy and upgrade their computers to play together.

I ended up renting a server and started a clan I was hooked. 

The next edition Battlefield Vietnam turned out to be all a person who loved movies like "Apocalypse now" or "Full metal jacket" and even "Platoon" hoped for "Born to kill" on the helmets "Fortunate son" blasting through the speakers of the Huey's so anyway long story short 😁I never stopped playing bought numerous laptops just to have the right tools and Battlefield is by far 80% of my time spend gaming.

So does anyone else have some stories to share I'll love to read them ;-)
