The cheating has made this game unplayable as of today., and EA is saying nothing about it. Which makes it worse. They don't even acknowledge whether or not they banned a cheater you reported.
Some ideas to fix the game:
If EA doesn't seriously address cheating, the game will be dead before Christmas and become another COD game. At that point, if you don't cheat you can't play.
What do you guys think they could do to fix this game?
Cheating became uncontrollable when the developers stopped allowing private servers. I ran multiple UT99 servers and cheating was always the front battle us administrators had to deal with. But we had control over everything in the server including the anti-cheat. We could even build custom maps from scratch. And by having that power we could almost eliminate all cheating by staying on top of script and what it missed our in game admins could monitor and control. They could still play the game but just not in our server because they were banned. And if you think you can trick a good admin with a vpn or any ip leap. Think again.
UT99 is still going and even has a solid player base 26 years after release for the very reason I pointed out above. Epic tried to kill the game, But we actually owned it. So when Epic took down the master server query We just built a new public quarry.
As long as EA plays dictator over the servers you are getting exactly what they want you to get.
Online fps gaming is ruined across all multi-player shooter and others as well, I sim race and deal with the same crap on track.
