Re: Game crash to desktop after 1.1.2.0 update (launch, gameplay, map change)
BLUF:
BF6 v1.1.2.0 crashes immediately on first match load due to NULL pointer in FSR2/DLSS worker threads. Worked fine before the update. Urgent dev fix needed.
Since the 1.1.2.0 update Battlefield 6 is effectively unplayable on my system. Before this update the game never crashed but now it crashes immediately during the lobby -> match load transition, almost every session. Sometimes after tinkering (details below) it will load one game, but then the next will crash to desktop without error message.
System specs:
GPU: RTX 4070 Ti
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000
OS: Windows 11 Build 26100+
NVIDIA WHQL latest drivers.
WinDBG analysis:
Exception 0xC0000005 – Access Violation (Write)
Faulting instruction: ntdll!RtlpWaitOnCriticalSection+0xB3
Attempted write to 0x00000024, RAX = 0x0 (NULL pointer).
Apparently, the crash occurs in FSR2/DLSS worker threads during upscaler initialization
Tinkerings / Partial workarounds:
Disabling DLSS/FSR2 sometimes lets a match load, but now mostly ineffective
Restarting game/PC or resetting configs may also let a match load
Attempted to disable FSR and XESS by changing the loader .dll to .bak, turns out the game refuses to start if you do that.
Tried and Failed:
Disabling overlays (Steam, Discord, NVIDIA)
Updating / rolling back GPU drivers (including DDU uninstall and reinstall)
Full clean reinstall of game
Windows repair.
Absolutely shattered at this, just want to play the game. I have raised it through official channels, but am yet to hear back. Seeking any other workaround. I can attached the full WinDBG report if needed.
