Crashing
Hello Everyone
,Battlefield 6 repeatedly crashes on my PC. It can crash before gameplay starts or after several minutes of completely smooth gameplay. The problem occurs in Campaign and Multiplayer.
GPU: AMD Radeon VII
Game: Battlefield 6 on Steam
Game executable: bf6.exe
Battlefield version from crash dump: 1.0.439.36273
The DirectX error is:
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
Error code: 0x887A0006
"The GPU will not respond to more commands."
I captured the Battlefield crash dump and analyzed it using Microsoft WinDbg.
WinDbg reports:
Failure.Exception.Code: 0x887a0006
Failure bucket: XAML_AVRF_887a0006_bf6.exe!Unknown
Process: bf6.exe
The Battlefield call stack repeatedly contains:
bf6!ffxFsr2ResourceIsNull
This is particularly interesting because the crash still happens when FSR/upscaling is disabled in Battlefield.
Troubleshooting already completed:
GPU stress test passed with zero errors.
GPU VRAM/HBM2 test passed with zero errors.
System RAM test passed with zero errors.
CPU Extreme stability test passed with zero errors.
Other demanding games run without crashing.
Battlefield runs smoothly until the sudden crash.
Clean AMD graphics driver installation performed.
AMD drivers 26.5.2 and 26.1.1 tested.
GPU and VRAM clocks reduced for testing.
FSR/upscaling disabled.
Shader cache cleared and rebuilt.
Battlefield configuration regenerated.
Overlays disabled.
Low graphics settings tested.
60 FPS limit tested.
Borderless display mode tested.
V-Sync on and off tested.
-dx11 launch option tested.
Battlefield HD texture packs are installed.
None of these changes fixed the crash.
Because the CPU, system RAM, GPU and VRAM pass stress testing and other games are stable, while the Battlefield crash dump specifically shows ffxFsr2ResourceIsNull followed by DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, this appears to be a Battlefield/Frostbite rendering or driver compatibility problem.
Could this please be forwarded to the Battlefield/Frostbite rendering team?
I can provide the original bf6.exe .dmp crash file and the complete WinDbg !analyze -v output if required.
Please let me know if there is a known compatibility issue involving AMD Radeon VII/Vega GPUs, or if you need additional diagnostic information.
Thanks
