Deadzone settings don't work ingame

So, after some research, trying a lot of things and losing my mind ingame, I concluded that the deadzone settings don't do what they should.

To sum it up:
- When aiming, the reticle doesnt move unless a specific angle in the stick is reached. This angle does not change when lowering/ changing deadzones from the original deadzones.
- This applies to both axial and regular deadzones
- 'Ingame', yes, ingame. The settings work as intended in the firing range. I even went into the config files and changed my deadzone to 0.000000, might be placebo but it does really feel perfect in the firing range right now. Exactly how it should be.
- No my controller is not broken, like I said, it works fine in the firing range.
- The higher the optics zoom / the further away the target, the more you notice the problem.

So, I am pretty sure the deadzones dont work as intended when in an online game. It makes sniping almost impossible, especially after 100 meters. Even at that range you notice it because you cant make little micro adjustments.

As a player whos played on controller on 10+ years now, both casual and competitive, I truly notice this and it truly messes with my game and aim. Since I couldnt find a lot of posts about this I start to worry it might be on my side, only found a post about aim assist being weird and some posts from the beta.

If there is any info on this, anyone who heard or experienced this before, I need to know because it is really annoying.

For anyone wondering about the config code (PC only i believe): GstInput.ControllerRightStickCenterDeadzone 0.000000

  • EA_Leeuw I just really wanna know if this issue is getting to the team. On zero deadzones both axial and center and using the dual sense there is still a deadzone at zero. I had this bug on ps5 during the beta and now during full release im playing on steam with steam input disabled and still having the issue.

Update: I tried messing with my deadzone settings a bit, and heres what I found. When I went back to the default deadzones it felt a lot better, not truly a low deadzone but it was a lot better. For both deadzones, it feels like going down actually brings them up, and bringing them up also brings them up.

I always put my deadzones low as possible on any game that allows it, this is also why I never tried the default ones. And no, this doesn't mean the bug is fixed or this problem is solved because the 0-0 still does not work. I only found an alternative, the default ones. This 100% has to be a bug because why allow people to lower the deadzone if it doesn't actually lower them. I believe the default is 7, I would say that 0 feels like 15. So maybe going down 1 actually brings it up 1? Feels like it.

As for the firing range, they still work there. 0 deadzone feels like 0 deadzone there, so it looks like an easy fix (how I see it). I see someone tagged a community manager so I will do the same. I really need a confirmation that this is an actual bug and it is known by the developers EA_Leeuw

Go with default ones for now. See my new comment for why
