noticed this happens for me intermittently (but 90% of the time) when i alt tab out - if i dont, game is stable. Unfortunately bumoped windows key once and it ruined a game, but apart from that i just dont alt tab anymore and i seem to be ok. Running game set as full screen. Hope this helps someone.
