I'm trying a new solution that someone suggested on Reddit — I'm about 4 days in without a crash right now which is way too early to judge, but hopefully it's doing something. I've suspected for a while that power and clock speed are implicated so this solution caught my eye.

Go to Control Panel
> Power options
> Change plan settings
> Change advanced power settings
> PCI Express
> Link State Power Management
> Set to "Off"
> Apply changes
> Restart
