Error Code 0:85009S - Kicked after 5 mins
Hey everyone,
I am reaching out here because I am completely at my wit's end with Error Code 0:85009S. I recently did a fresh reinstall of Windows, and ever since then, I cannot stay in a match for more than 5 minutes before getting kicked. It is absolutely outrageous and is making it impossible to play with my friends.
I want to be clear that I have already tried everything usually suggested for network and anti-cheat issues. Here is the list of troubleshooting steps I have already gone through, none of which worked:
- Switched to Google DNS and Cloudflare DNS
- Completely disabled IPv6
- Reset and reinstalled all drivers
- Hard reset my router
- Verified the game cache and local files
- Repaired the EA Anti-Cheat (EA AC)
Nothing is working. The game just boots me out after 5 minutes, almost on the dot. Has anyone actually found a working fix for this specific error code? I am out of ideas and just want to play the game.
Thanks in advance.

Okay, so I tried the first suggestion you mentioned, which was performing a clean boot of Windows. After doing that, I installed the game, opened it, and it worked!!!
Now, I’m a bit confused because after installing the game on a clean boot, it works fine even when I switch back to normal startup, so I no longer need to keep the clean boot setup. I can’t really explain why it’s working now.
To help the community figure this out, I disabled certain services, booted in clean boot mode, and the game worked. I’ve attached a screenshot of the services I disabled (for your reference Ea_RTA). Maybe you can identify which service or combination might be causing the issue, or what changed?
Also, just to give you a timeline: when I opened Steam in clean boot mode, it prompted me to install something related to Steam AC (or something similar, I’m not sure exactly). I clicked Install, and then I reinstalled Battlefield from scratch. After that, the game opened without any problems. Just trying to give you all the details of what happened.
Thank you again. Much appreciated
