game closing when loading into a game,mainly multiplayer

im having issues of not being able to play online with a friend, once it loads into a game it closes the game and puts me back to my desktop but when i load a game whilst on my own it lets me play. i dont get what the issue is when i was online with a few friends yesterday without any problems.
