Secure Boot requires a UEFI boot mode, which is tied to a GPT-formatted drive. If your system is still using an older MBR partitioning scheme, Secure Boot will fail and prevent the OS from loading.
"MBR to GPT" refers to the process of converting a computer's disk from the older Master Boot Record (MBR) partitioning scheme to the newer GUID Partition Table (GPT) scheme, using built-in Windows tools like the MBR2GPT.exe utility or Diskpart, which is necessary for modern UEFI-based systems and for utilizing hard drives larger than 2 terabytes. The conversion enables features like support for larger disk capacities, a greater number of partitions, and improved data integrity through redundant partition data, making it a requirement for Windows 11 upgrades.
GPT (GUID Partition Table) is required for Secure Boot because Secure Boot requires the system to boot in UEFI mode, which necessitates a GPT-partitioned disk for the operating system. The older MBR (Master Boot Record) partition style is not compatible with Secure Boot and must be converted to GPT to enable it.
There is a chance you might have to physically take out your hard drive and check if you have MBR or GPT since you can't boot up your computer at all. If you have MBR and you tried secure boot, then maybe that's what's causing it. You will need to convert your hard drive MBR to GPT. - MadeByKold10 days agoSeasoned Rookie
Did you update your BIOS to its latest update before doing so? Try resetting your CMOS battery by taking it out and putting it back in your motherboard. Figure out what your motherboard is and do some research on setting up secure boot.
