Mouse input interruption

Has anyone else had a problem when your mouse input is suddenly not recognised for a few seconds. After that you start seeing your system cursor in-game (like on top of the actual gameplay). I've tried various fixes. Running the game in fullscreen/windowed/borderless. Updating gpu and chipset drivers and disabling discord/nvidia overlays. I even updated my bios. My mouse and usb ports should be ok because in other games I don't get this issue. This is actually quite recent. I've been struggling with this for a few days now.
