Recurring DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error

As many others are experiencing, my BF6 is constantly crashing on the splash screen with the dreaded DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG message.

I've experienced this issue on and off since launch - occasionally I find a fix which may work for a month or two before the same crash recurs. I've tried a number of fixes recommended by EA (running game as admin seemed to work for a while) but none of them have worked on a permanent basis so far. This includes DDU'ing, changing the max frequency of the GPU, uninstalling to a previous driver, cleared shader caches, tinkering with various settings such as turning FSR2 upscaling off and more.

I have a feeling that the issue is to do with how the driver stack is initialised but am out of ideas on how to fully diagnose and remediate permanently.

System Specs:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080
  • CPU: i7-11700F
  • PSU: Corsair Rm1000X
  • OS: Windows 11

I've attached some sample crash dumps and DXDiag report.

  • I was having the same problem. I currently have mesh quality set to Low, and there are no issues with the game. Try it bro

  • I used to get a lot of blue screens due to Nvidia issues similar to this. Are you running your card on a pcie riser? Because the issue stopped once I changed pc case and came with a new riser cable same gen riser tho.
