Re: EVGA card won't work for EA games anymore

I was playing earlier today with no issues.  When I tried to play this evening I got this pop up after I was loading into a match of Casual Breakthrough.

So I went to See if there was a New Nvidia Driver And there was.  I installed the new driver, rebooted and still got the same pop up while it was compiling shaders.

So I then went to the EA App to the manage button and selected repair and when it was finished repairing  I then launched the game and once again received the same pop up while compiling shaders.

So I did a google search and found my issue was my EVGA Fan Control Software "Precision X1"

"EA AntiCheat blocks the EVGA driver-x64.sys (often tied to legacy EVGA FlowControl or Precision tools) because it contains a known security vulnerability that can be exploited. To fix this issue, you must close the conflicting software, uninstall or disable the offending program, or rename the flagged driver file."

After uninstalling this software I was able to launch the game and play without issue.

This started as a ticket I was submitting to EA so they could help find a solution to the problem thus all the initial steps I took to try and solve the issue that failed but I am now submitting it in case someone else has the same issue and this post will hopefully be of use to them.

Side note:  The article I found was from 10 months ago and I have had the Precision X1 software installed for since BF6 came out, so I am curious on why it chose this evening to have issue with it.

Edit

I was curious on what this security vulnerability was and it appears that ironically EVGA created driver-x64.sys to replace WinRing0x64.sys because it had a security vulnerability.

I ran across this article that explains the security vulnerability that driver-x64.sys has

https://0idea.dev/cve-2025-noonecares/#:~:text=When%20installed%20you%20will%20find,but%20what%20did%20you%20find%3F

I am assuming that there is  cheat software out there that make use of this vulnerability otherwise why would EA care, they are not in the antivirus/software security business.

Has anyone found a solution other than uninstalling evga precision?

I uninstalled it because I do not use the software anymore, but it was only one of the options available.

But as it has a security vulnerability I would suggest doing the same.

I understand that MSI Afterburner is an alternative software you could look into to see if it works as a suitable replacement for you, it is supposed to work on EVGA Cards.

That’s not a solution; EA needs to let the graphics card driver work.

This has nothing to do with the driver that makes the graphics card function.  It is used by desktop utilities that interfaces with the graphics card.

"EVGA Precision X1 is a desktop software utility used to overclock, tune, and monitor NVIDIA graphics cards. It lets you control fan curves, adjust RGB lighting, and track real-time hardware vitals like temperature and power usage."

"EVGA Flow Control is a management application used to monitor and adjust EVGA CLC all-in-one liquid CPU coolers. Key features include temperature tracking, custom fan and pump curves, and RGB LED logo customization"

The driver that these two utilities use just happens to have a known security vulnerability.  You could see if they released an updated version that does not contain this vulnerability before they went out of the graphics card business.

But there are other utilities out there that you can use.
