100% CPU Usage on i7-4770 with SSD

Hi,

I used to have smooth gameplay up until a month ago. I'm experiencing micro stuttering and sometimes the frame just froze for upward 2 seconds. Game was installed on an SSD where my Windows 8.1 is on. I stopped playing and uninstalled everything. A few days ago, I installed it on a second HDD together with Origin. It's still happening. Drivers are all updated.

Specs

--------

i7-4770 3.4Ghz

MSI Z87 MPower

Ripjawz 4x 8GB RAM

Samsung SSD 840 250GB

Seagate Caviar Black 2TB

GTX 780

Taskbar Programs

------------------------

Norton 360

Canon IJ Network Scanner

Razer Synapse

iCloud

One Drive

Dropbox

Qualcomm Killer Network

Auslogics Boostspeed

GeForce Experience

Rainmeter

There wasn't any problems before this and no programs were installed before the stuttering happens. Graphics set to Ultra.

  • Hi,

    I've checked. No parked CPU.

Apparently Task Scheduler was eating up my CPU and RAM. Crazy when I have 32GB of it. I've disabled it. Will run it monthly instead of having it monitor my system all the time. BF4 was taking up to 80% of processes before this. Now it's at 10%. Weird.

and how did you find it that Task Scheduler was eating up your performance?

  • I ran Resource Monitor and saw that svchost was taking up abt 14k cores. I googled 'svchost' and '100% cpu usage'. Folks were saying svchost has been notorious at taking up cpu cores and Task Scheduler was one of the processes. Others include Intel Proset.

I decided to disable it and restart my computer. True enough, it ran like it was brand new. You've seen my specs. There's not much things that could possibly eat up so much resources. Now everything runs without any micro stuttering or frame drops/freezes. CPU usage didn't even hit near 50% with Ultra settings.

Next is to figure why i'm constantly getting kicked by Punkbuster for disallowed program/driver. But that's another topic entirely. 😕mileyvery-happy:
