2142 Battlefield for PC will not download. PC doesn't recognize disc?

I bought Battlefield 2142 for PC brand new un opened. Everytime I insert disc it acts like it's going to download and then says "insert Disc" when it's already in, then spits it out. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get it to download? I'm trying to install on Alienware MX17 R2.
