Activation UI has stopped working

Check your Firewall settings. I had the same issue and it was because the programs were not trusted in the Defense + (they were in the Firewall though, which was confusing). I am using Comodo, but your Firewall will no doubt have similar features.
Defense Plus - Computer security Policy Defense Rules - in the rules I amended the programs to do with BF4 and BF3 to trusted applications where they were not already. This fixed the problem for me.
