Bad Company 2 Xbox Stats/Weapons/Hard to connect

Long time BFBC2 fan here, been playing this on and off for years and more recently every night for the past few months. 

Had no problems at all, even with the dwindling player count you could guarantee a full server or two.

However past 2-3 nights it has been increasingly difficult to connect to any games at all, often taking 5+ attempts to get into a game. With several error reasons as to why.

(Failed to connect to EA Online)

(No games available try again)

Etc

Going into the stats or weapons screen takes a minute, and my stats and weapons have been reset. Going into a game other players report similiar issues, and on a few occasions I've had trouble connecting and getting stats. But once in the game my weapons and stats would 're-aqquire' themselves.

Games are available, but it takes several attempts to actually get into one.

Any help would be much appreciated as I love this game for more than just nostalgia its my favourite fps.
