I just updated my machine to 8.1 through my MSDN subscription. I cannot get the 2.1.7 plugin to install. I have been trying to get it to work but no luck so far. I am looking for help to see if there is a workaround. I can install another browser but prefer not to.
That was not the solution I was looking for. I am looking to keep i.e. 11 and trying to get this working as possible. I actually like ie.10 and seems like 11 is better. I have used the others but it is really personal preference.
Also, just checked the reviews of 11. Seems that they made some good improvements and seems to be leading pack in performance.

I didn't mean you can't use Internet Explorer, I only meant the best way to rule out a problem with your current browser is to try an alternate browser, if you don't want to do that, try the compatibility settings.
If that doesn't work, try downloading it onto another browser, if that works, then you can begin to troubleshoot what's up with IE...
