Battlefeild 3 digital DL XBOX 360 multiplayer online never loads

Downloaded BF3 from XBOX LIVE on my 360. Campaign works fine seems every thing else is functioning ok except multiplayer. When I choose it the game freezes and an error pops up showing " disconnected...

@HaloDark13 Can you check the store and see if there's a free online pass? The online pass is required to play Multiplayer and a free version was listed several years ago.
