Battlefield 1 - Anable to run in a virtual mchine 123

Hi !

I've been gaming Battlefield 1 or 9 years. I work in the cybersecurity field thus been operating Linux environment for 12 years. I run a powerful computer where i run various virtual machines for my second job andvarious services. I use one of the VMs for gaming that require Windows.

Recently I've got the error "Unable to run in a virtual mchine 123" when starting Battlefield 1 from the EA app. I have not modified any system file, nor do I conduct anything associated with cheating. I simply want to play my game when I'm not working.

Why does this error occur?

In recent years I've noticed some form of dark traits on various gaming vendors, where Linux as a platform is unwanted and excluded to participate in gaming. Can anyone please ellaborate why Linux is a hated operating system for gaming, when most of the world we know runs on Linux?

If EA does not plan to resolve this issue, does anyone know Anti-VM techniques to trick the EA app to believe one runs in a physical machine?

If this does not solve I assume my time used in gaming and buying EA games is over. It was fun while it lasted I guess. Thanks!

  • Thank you both for replying!

This is not a proper way to treat players. Why not give players the ability to vote ban, like they did in CS. I'd be happy to play with cheaters if we could vote ban them. Let the players help fight cheaters.

Looks like we need to apply anti-vm techniques. I gues cloud gaming haven't been banned, so there has to be some loop hole, but currect me if i'm wrong.

  • same problem here, I'm a software developer and I work and game inside my windows 11 VM, been playing BF1 since 2017, this is pissing me off that I'll never buy an EA game again.

I've been gaming inside this VM for more than 2 years, everything works well, meanwhile, hackers are still filling the servers and they won't do a thing when you report them.

  • Hi qortezc,

Sorry, but from my understanding from PC users neither Linux or virtual machines are allowed by the EA anticheat. One day they may be allowed but I don't know if that's being considered or not.
