Battlefield 1 code says it has already been redeemed

When I go to redeem the code in the EA App on PC, I enter the code and am told the code is accepted. Then I click confirm and am told that the code has already been redeemed.  This is impossible as I have never installed the game, and purchased it as a physical copy when it was new. It was still in the wrapper until today.

I can't return to the retailer as the purchase was 5+ years ago, and they no longer stock it to give me a new code. I didn't play it before as my old PC didnt meet the requirements, and I intended to buy a new one but that didnt happen until recently, and now I still cant play it!

I spoke to EA help in the chat and they said the code was registered to another deleted account, and suggested I try password recovery for any email addresses I can think of. I have tried this but there were no other accounts that are in any email addresses I have ever had. This was not unexpected as I have never installed or played this or any other copy of the game.

I can't even install it unverified from the disks as it wants to install the origin client first, which is no longer supported, so it stops with an error message.

Is there any was to resolve this?  Can the code I have be transferred to my EA account as it is currently assigned to a deleted account? Can I be provided with a new code from EA?  Other ideas?  Seems like something should be workable

Cheers

  • Hi @SDChelo77 I'm really sorry but this isn't something anyone here can help with. Nobody has access to user game accounts or the code system. Unfortunately all I can suggest is continuing to speak with EA Help, as they're the ones who can potentially help. However, if they're seeing that the code was redeemed against another account, they may not be able to give you a new one.
  • Thanks @ElliotLH that's disappointing as they said to seek help in the forums. Is there another part of the forum I should direct this query to?

@SDChelo77 I'm afraid not as there isn't anyone who can view your gaming account or check/provide codes. I do know that EA Help will sometimes direct people here to make a report if the agent can't resolve the issue themselves, but they shouldn't be telling people that account issues like this can be fixed here. I guess there are a few issues here, like the age of the code and it being redeemed already against another account which has since been deleted, which are making it more difficult to resolve.

Out of interest, which retailer did you buy it from originally? The only other thing I can think of at the moment is that it might have been sold on to you after being redeemed, if you used a site like CD Keys or so on, as that's happened before.
  • @ElliotLH I'll try with EA help again then, thanks.

I bought it at JB Hifi in Australia, the code is written on the installation/warranty pamphlet inside the DVD case.  Case was shrink wrapped in plastic when I bought it (and until yesterday, such a long time!) so I have no idea how the code is out in the wild
