Battlefield 1 not launching

Greetings! I installed Battlefield 1 through Steam (that's where I bought it from) after not playing for many years (last time was about a year ago maybe more when Origin was still used). When I hit "Play" on Steam, the EA App opens, says "preparing game", finishes loading but BF1 doesn't launch, instead it takes me back to the EA app. I've tried troubleshooting steps suggested by EA support but the issue still persists. I get no errors whatsoever. I'd appreciate some help.
  • Update: I tried to run the game through the .exe in the steamapps\common and I got an activation issue (0xc000007b). I searched the solutions for this and what worked for me was going to my windows search bar, typing "add or remove programs". From there I found all the "Microsoft Visual C++ " stuff, hit left click, modify and repair. (Some of them couldn't be modified but it doesn't matter). After repairing all that could be repaired I launched Battlefield 1 and it worked!

Hey @Achy_02 I am glad you could resolve this issue, and I would like to thank you for sharing the steps with us. 😉👍We appreciate it!

  • I tried the same thing but it won't budge for me, it still says "preparing game" and then opens EA, and the game doesn't launch.

  • You are a god among men! Had this issue for about a week, tried all of the common fixes, thought hope was lost but tried this and et voila! All hail Achy!

@Duke_of_pie1 Glad to hear this worked for you as well!

Considering this thread has been inactive for a few months I'm going to go ahead and close it off.
