Battlefield 1 (pc) wont run anymore

Hi everyone,

I'm getting mega frustrated with Battlefield 1. It now totally refuses to run on my computer, all I get is constant crashes and various direct x errors.

Pc Specs-

CPU -AMD Ryzen 1800x
MOBO- Asus ROG Crosshair HERO IV
RAM - 32GB
GPU- GIGIBYTE GTX 1080 G1

Plenty of SSD Storage

Windows 10 64bit

I purchased the game last week and managed to complete the campaign with the odd crash happening now and then. However it got to a point that every time I tried to launch the game it would immediately crash. I then started to receive various Directx related error messages. I went online and checked various forums for trouble shooting and tried every solution I could find however I couldn't get the game running. I then elected to format my drive and reinstall windows and start fresh. However I still have the exact same issues.

I can't recall everything I done but I have; Reinstalled windows, Updated all drivers, re-downloaded battlefield 1 serval times, Ran game as admin, Disabled origin in game, disabled DX12, disabled HRD, attempted to run on low graphics settings, disabled NVidia shadow play, deleted setting files in documents, ran game in compatibility mode, stress tested GPU and CPU, ran game windowed/borderless, tried older graphics drivers/hotfixes. I have no doubt forgot other attempts.

When I attempt to launch the game I will usually get a DirectX error (various, changes every time). If I keep attempting to run the game 1 out of 10 times I will be able to get online and play the game for around 10 mins before the error occurs again. Some times the game just crashes without a directx error.

    Hello @fehilly4,

the DxDiag report is now attached, thank you for that, also for the extensive list of troubleshooting performed, that helps in avoiding giving the same advice over and over.

From what I see in the report, I would recommend two things - one is thoroughly manually checking for any Windows Updates, if available. Yes, you listed that, but it still appears in the DxDiag.

The second one would be: Creating a new Windows User Account as an admin - this is best explained in this Microsoft article. Create it, reboot, log in with this account and then try to launch the game again.

    Hello @EA_Joker,

Sorry for the delay! Been a busy week!

Thank you for your suggestions. Windows is up to date, no windows updates available, no chip set or graphics drivers to update.

I also created a new user account as you suggested but with no results.

The game now runs but crashes within minuets or starting the campaign or multiplayer. Don't appear to getting Directx errors anymore just old fashion crashes.

    Thanks!

I tried again and BINGO, it looks to have solved it! Game is running spot on!

Never thought to try again, You are a gent! Ill start narrowing down whats causing it!

    Thanks!

    Hey @fehilly4,

that's great news! Hope you can narrow it down to one process or application. If you do so, it would be fantastic if you would share that information with other players who might be having similar issues. Cheers!
