Battlefield 1 refuses to work (freezes or crashes upon loading settings)
The problem is simple - but as with all simple problems, it's deceptively so. I've installed Battlefield 1 a week ago and tried playing it, first through EA Original Super Early Access (or whatever's the name on PC). Then through the Early Enlister bonus (Ultimate edition). Now I've tried to play it after launch.
It refuses to work. Once activated, it displays a black rectangle (approximately 1366x768 in size, ignoring User Profile settings and command line parameters in Origin), displays the rotating circle for a second (indicating it's loading settings, I presume), then promptly either freezes or crashes. If it freezes, Task Manager shows the process as using roughly 1/3rd CPU and about 1.5 GB of RAM and the values fluctuate indicating something's chugging under the hood. But no matter how long it's left on the burner, it never launches properly. Origin does count the time, however, and I have 4 hours played on the account, without a single functional launch.
The Event Viewer describes it as follows:
The program bf1.exe version 1.0.9.47594 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

I've tried every solution I could, including:
- Wipe settings and force re-generation
- Use working settings posted during beta troubleshooting
- Manually alter the resolution in case it's trying to do something dumb
- Disabling Origin in game (both per-game and global setting)
- Running Battlefield in administrator mode
- Running Origin and Battlefield in compatibility mode (Win 7, Win 8, and Win 8.1)
- Repair game
- Sacrifice a virgin to the Elder Gods
- Cry a bit in the corner covered in blood
- Switch language versions to force a repair (English to Polish and back)
- Clean install (delete everything and redownload 40 GB)
I am at my wits' end. I beg for your help.
