Battlefield 1942: Can Punkbuster affect you in a LAN server?

Hello,

I have been playing a lot of Battlefield 1942 with friends in a LAN server I host. Recently, we have been considering getting trainers to enable unlimited ammunition and disable fog, etc. I found a trainer and everything, but I haven't tried it yet because Battlefield 1942 is protected by Punkbuster anti-cheat. My question is, if I host a LAN server with friends and we all use cheats (a trainer), can Punkbuster affect the game in any way? Are we at risk of getting banned or something?

It's a pretty silly question, I know, but I'd rather not take a chance and get screwed over a silly thing like that. We certainly won't be playing with cheats outside of LAN, so that's a non-issue.
